10/26 My New Poem
10/26
It's halloween week and I'm leaving for my friends on friday so i have been doing homework non-stop. In my poetry class, my teacher told us to write a poem about something and to reference it at least 3 times. This was the one homework assignment that I couldn't figure out, but I was looking back on some old stories and I kept thinking of the word harmony. Harmony is defined as a agreement or concord, but to me at least, Harmony hasn't been super present in my life. I thinks that's what makes it so special. We wait for these moments where everything is in this sort of perfect state; where the clouds sit just right and the birds chirp just enough to be heard but not to annoy. But I think life and harmony are almost the same thing or supposed to be in symbiosis, and more often than not, they only sink up once in a lifetime. Harmony is like a miracle; like the miracle of life, but how is it so good if there is so much more bad in the world? I don't really know, honestly I don't really know anything, but all this thinking of harmony gave way for a pretty good poem. So i'll stop talking... or writing I guess and share the poem I've written.
Harmony
By Taylor Walton
The pinks danced ragged on the water's surface,
Harmony leaving room for the yellows to weave in between.
But now life feels like living in a circus,
Hands missing without the comfort of a trampoline.
It settles slow and distant,
Where only the dark hides away.
Harmony working as the devils assistant,
Squeezing the light until it turns gray.
Now the mirror shows sinking skin surrounding dull eyes,
And once again the pinks descend.
That's when harmony reveals its lies.
Not once has life been kind to a friend,
Who’s seen how harmony is nothing but a bitter end.
So basically, that's my poem. Its short but no so sweet. For now, harmony seems sort of open ended. Maybe eventually I'll figure it, but for now i'll leave it at this.
