The Perfect Poke Bowl (Plus Weird Rants)

Rant 1: I've been thinking about everything, a lot. I don't really know why. All these old memories I had forgotten came bubbling up to the surface. I think it's because I've been writing a lot. I put myself into these characters, and sometimes the simplicity of their lives makes me envious. Sometimes they make me want to pack up and move.

Rant 2: Maybe you won't understand this, but I keep feeling nostalgic. It's similar to the feeling of when you’re 18 and you give your mom a hug after she moves you into your new dorm and you guys know you’re probably not gonna see each other till Thanksgiving or Christmas and that’s okay, and it doesn’t hurt right away. It takes a while. A few hours go by, and you’re sitting in your dorm room, and you’re looking at the ceiling, and you wonder why you didn’t cry more, or why you didn’t hug her longer, or if you showed her that you loved her enough, and, for the first time, you realize that you’re on your own, and it’s scary, and it’s weird, and it’s uncomfortable, and it’s your life, and you can’t change it. I don't even know if that makes sense to you. Hopefully it does.

Rant 3: Also, I really wanted to go to the Mitski concert but all her destinations are in cool, far away places like New York. I was thinking about flying, but thats way too expensive. However, Julia Jacklin is the opener. I listen to her album Crushing on repeat almost everyday. She has a voice that's so soothing but also so mesmerizing. My friend Teale saw her live in Austin and I really wish I could have gone. Her voice just scratches a particular part of my brain that is hard to reach. One day I will see her live in concert, I know it. If I'm being honest, I'd rather see her in concert than Mitski. Obviously I love Mitski, but Julia just gets me better. She has so few songs yet every song she has is amazing. Her discography is insanely good, which is so unheard of. God, I guess I'm ranting again. Anyways, case in point, the Mitski concert is a no-go.

Now, I know I've talked about how to eat chick fil a, but I think what people really need help with is what to get in their poke bowl.

The Perfect Poke Bowl According to Science:

  1. Start with sushi rice or a half rice half greens base.

  2. Then, you choose you proteins. I usually do a mix of crab salad, salmon, FRESH shrimp, and tuna (preferably spicy tuna). If you get panko or fried shrimp in your poke bowl, your a saitest. I don't make the rules, I just enforce them.

  3. Next is the toppings. Most people are ignorant and choose not to get mango and pineapple, but that's a mistake. It makes the whole dish. So once you have those two, you have to get green onions, edamame, cucumber, avocado, and pickled ginger. Those are your staples. You can't skip them. From there you can add anything else your heart desires, just please no peppers. It's not a taco bowl!

  4. Lastly, is your sauces. If you don't get spicy mayo and eel or unagi sauce, you're doing it wrong. Nothing else is acceptable. Again, I don't make the rules. If you want you can add crispies, sesame seeds, etc. but it's not a requirement.

Now you have the most perfect poke bowl known to man. You're welcome.

Picture with me with the perfect poke bowl.

Rant 4: Okay, lastly, I just want to talk about how I have become the thriftiest person ever. I have found almost every gift for christmas at the thrift store and it's only the 19th of October. On top of that, I have completely elevated my style. I wear bright colors, long skirts, and dresses, and I feel the most like me I have in a while. Maybe it's just because I'm happy, I'm not sure, but recently I've been waking up at 7:30, taking long walks around the lake, and making eggs and coffee. I've even made all sorts of meals. Sometimes they suck, but sometimes they don't. I made really good gluten free crab rangoon last night. Anyways, to get back to my thrifty ways, I am starting a tik tok account all for styling certain pieces. My first video is me styling an oversized vintage black leather jacket. The first outfit has a black mini skirt, a cool toned grey long sleeve shirt, a black striped button up vest, and a black hair bow. I have never felt more slay in my life. The second outfit is this dress I thrifted from the loft. It is black, blue, and gold with these cool silver buttons. With the jacket, it just looks perfect. And the third outfit is more casual, with a black and white striped sweater and a black pleated tennis skirt. Basically everything in the video is thrifted, which I think is pretty cool. Anyways, the second video is about how to style a pair of white denim short overalls for fall/winter. I used a lot of burgundy, blue, and grey to make everything feel like fall. I don't really know what's gotten into me, but I like it. I might even start selling thrift bundles on etsy.

Rant 5: Alright, I know I said the last paragraph was gonna be the end, but I lied. I just want to update you guys on my stories. Right now, I'm writing 3 stories at once. I'm probably just going crazy, but It's happening. I just can't seem to stop typing, (obviously). I'm hoping to finish my two screenplays by Christmas. Once I become a big name in hollywood, all of you readers can say you read my blog. Probably the most gangster thing ever honestly. Well, after all this typing, I've decided to put my crusty, chipped red nail polished fingers down. Thank you all for reading!
